“There is no solution to our climate crisis without addressing our global water crisis. I was honored to take that message to Dubai.”
Jan Spin, President of Americas
The world agreed to an unprecedented climate deal at COP28 in Dubai and BlueGreen Water Technologies was there. President of Americas Jan Spin joined the history-making gathering and presented solutions for resolving our global water crisis.
“There is no solution to our climate crisis without addressing our global water crisis. I was honored to take that message to Dubai,” said Spin.
BlueGreen was one of 30 climate-tech companies chosen to represent Israel at the 28th Conference of the Parties, known as COP28. The conference produced a historic agreement to transition away from fossil fuels and to triple global renewable energy capacity by 2030.
The COP28 presidency designated conserving and restoring freshwater ecosystems a key priority as part of its Water Agenda, setting aside a full day to explore climate action across water, food, and agriculture, with another day focusing on nature, land use, and oceans.
“It was heartening to see water elevated on the agenda at COP28,” said Spin. “Water is our planet’s most precious natural resource and greatest natural carbon sink. BlueGreen is committed to protecting, restoring, and optimizing aquatic ecosystems while removing harmful atmospheric carbon in the process.”
Spin participated in several panel discussions, joining the Climate Leadership Summit’s “Global Stocktake: Energy Security, Net Zero and Sustainability” panel and offering solutions to urban infrastructure issues on the “Building Urban Resilience to Climate Change” panel.
Spin also delivered a presentation on BlueGreen’s Net Blue™ methodology, the first nature-based climate solution to reduce algal blooms and sequester carbon at the same time.
COP28 drew some 80,000 participants from November 30 to December 12, 2023, including world leaders and members of the private sector, civil society, financial institutions, and academia.
