Its active ingredient, sodium percarbonate, releases hydrogen peroxide (a substance that has long been used as a safe algaecide) when it comes into contact with water. The clean Lake Guard® Oxy process breaks the granular active ingredient down into simple water and oxygen, causing no harm to the environment. Lake Guard® Oxy’s special biodegradable coating enables the product to float on the water’s surface, traveling to the affected locations where it releases its active ingredient.
